Thailand Foundation is honored to announce the recipient of the Public Diplomacy Award 2023: Moriya and Ariya Jutanugarn
With reference to the announcement of Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Thailand Foundation on 28 April 2023 on the Public Diplomacy Award 2023 which was open for nominations of individuals, groups of people, or organizations of any nationals whose works have significant contributions to promoting Thailand, Thai people, and/or Thainess on the international stage. The call for nomination was opened for 3 months, from 1 May 2023 – 31 July 2023.
On 12 September 2023, the Board of the Thailand Foundation announced Moriya “Pro Mo” Jutanugarn and Ariya “Pro May” Jutanugarn as the recipient of the Public Diplomacy Award 2023. The Sisters are awarded due to their continuous contributions in the promotion of Thailand through their outstanding achievements in the international ladies’ golf arena. Their successes have also inspired new generations of professional golfers to follow in their footsteps and become champions in their own rights. As individuals, the Sisters have also represented an image of Thai characteristics through their appearances to worldwide followers. Furthermore, Moriya and Ariya are role models in promoting environmental awareness and social development.
Moriya entered the Ladies Professional Golf Association Tour (LPGA Tour), the world’s foremost golf tournament for women, in 2013. Ariya followed shortly in 2015, setting record as the first Thai female golfer to rank top of the LPGA in only 2 years after joining the association. She also swept 5 major season-ending awards, including the Rolex Player of the Year, and became the first female golfer to win 3 consecutive tournaments within 1 year.
As for Moriya, she was awarded LPGA Rookie of the Year when she joined the association in 2013. She further won the Hugel JTBC LA Open 2018 and the DOW Great Lake Bay Invitational in 2021. In 2023, the Sisters jointly championed the Hanwha Lifeplus International Crown.
Many Thai professional golf players followed footsteps of Moriya and Ariya. Currently, there are 7 Thai professional golf players who have gained champion statuses in the LGPA, including Moriya and Ariya, which are Pajaree Anannarukarn (Pro Meaw), Atthaya Thitikul (Pro Jean), Paphangkorn “Patty” Tavatanakit (Pro Meow), Chanettee Wannasaen (Pro Proud) and Thidapa Suwannapura (Pro Jasmine).
The story of the Jutanugarn Sisters became the basis of the documentary film “Tee Shot: Ariya Jutanugarn,” with the central message of diligence and working hard to follow one’s dreams. The documentary has been screened in many countries and is also available on the international streaming service Netflix.
Moriya’s and Ariya’s name will be engraved on the Trophy and the “Wall of Fame” along with the name of the past recipient. Both the Trophy and the “Wall of Fame” are on display at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Moriya and Ariya will also receive a replica Trophy along with an honorary plaque and a prize of 300,000 baht.
Dr. Soontorn Antarasena was the first and previous recipient of the Public Diplomacy Award, having received the honor in 2022.
The Thailand Foundation will announce the time and details of the Public Diplomacy Award 2023 ceremony later.

มูลนิธิไทยประกาศชื่อผู้ได้รับรางวัลการทูตสาธารณะประจำปี ๒๕๖๖ “โมรียา และ เอรียา จุฑานุกาล”
ตามที่คณะกรรมการมูลนิธิไทยได้ประชาสัมพันธ์เพื่อเปิดรับการเสนอชื่อเพื่อการรับรางวัลการทูตสาธารณะประจำปี ๒๕๖๖ เมื่อวันที่ ๒๘ เมษายน ๒๕๖๖ โดยรางวัลดังกล่าวจะมอบให้แก่บุคคล กลุ่มบุคคลหรือองค์กรที่ดำเนินงานด้านการทูตสาธารณะและสร้างชื่อเสียงให้แก่ประเทศไทย ประชาชนชาวไทยและ ความเป็นไทย ในหมู่ชาวต่างประเทศอย่างมีนัยสำคัญ จำนวน ๑ – ๓ รางวัล โดยได้เปิดรับสมัครตั้งแต่วันที่ ๑ พฤษภาคม ๒๕๖๖ – ๓๑ กรกฎาคม ๒๕๖๖ เป็นเวลาทั้งสิ้น ๓ เดือน นั้น
เมื่อวันที่ ๑๒ กันยายน ๒๕๖๖ คณะกรรมการมูลนิธิไทยได้ตัดสินให้โมรียาและเอรียา จุฑานุกาล เป็นผู้ได้รับรางวัลการทูตสาธารณะ ประจำปี ๒๕๖๖ เนื่องจากโมรียาและเอรียา จุฑานุกาล คู่พี่น้องนักกอล์ฟหญิงมืออาชีพชาวไทย ซึ่งประสบความสำเร็จอย่างยิ่งในวงการกีฬากอล์ฟสตรีระดับโลก ได้ช่วยสร้างชื่อเสียงให้กับประเทศไทยอย่างแพร่หลายและต่อเนื่องเป็นระยะเวลานาน ความสำเร็จดังกล่าวยังได้สร้างแรงบันดาลใจให้เยาวชนไทยหันมาสนใจกีฬากอล์ฟอย่างจริงจังเป็นจำนวนมากจนหลายคนประสบความสำเร็จในระดับโลกและสร้างชื่อเสียงให้แก่ประเทศไทยตามมาอย่างต่อเนื่อง นอกจากนั้น คู่พี่น้องนักกอล์ฟหญิงไทยยังช่วยเผยแพร่ อัตลักษณ์ความเป็นไทยในสายตาผู้ที่ติดตามทั่วโลก อีกทั้งยังเป็นต้นแบบด้านการส่งเสริมสิ่งแวดล้อมและ การสร้างสังคมที่ดีควบคู่ไปด้วย
พี่น้องจุฑานุกาลเข้าสู่ LPGA Tour ซึ่งเป็นรายการกอล์ฟหญิงอันดับ ๑ ของโลก โดยโปรโมเข้าสู่ LPGA Tour ในปี ๒๐๑๓ ขณะที่ต่อมาในปี ๒๐๑๕ โปรเมได้ตามเข้าสู่รายการดังกล่าว ในเวลาอันรวดเร็ว โปรเม-เอรียาสามารถพุ่งสูงสุดสู่ความเป็นนักกอล์ฟหญิงไทยคนแรกที่คว้าอันดับ ๑ ของโลก ในปี ๒๐๑๗ ภายหลังจากได้สิทธิ์แข่ง LPGA เพียง ๒ ปี ทั้งยังสร้างประวัติศาสตร์ครั้งใหญ่ให้กับประเทศไทย และวงการกอล์ฟโลกจากการคว้าแชมป์ LPGA Tour ได้ ๕ รายการ ตลอดจนได้รับรางวัลนักกอล์ฟแห่งปีภายในปีเดียวกัน และเป็นนักกอล์ฟหญิงคนแรกที่สามารถคว้าแชมป์ ๓ รายการติดต่อกันภายใน ๑ ปี ขณะที่โปรโม-โมรียา ก็มีผลงานที่น่าประทับใจ โดยในปี ๒๐๑๓ ซึ่งเป็นปีแรกที่เริ่มเล่นใน LPGA Tour ก็ได้รับรางวัล LPGA Rookie of the Year นอกจากนี้ ยังสามารถคว้าแชมป์ LPGA รายการ Hugel JTBC LA Open ได้ ในปี ๒๐๑๘ รายการ DOW Great Lake Bay Invitational ปี ๒๐๒๑ และล่าสุดในปี ๒๐๒๓ พี่น้องจุฑานุกาลอยู่ในทีมไทยร่วมกันคว้าแชมป์ Hanwha Lifeplus International Crown
ปัจจุบันมีโปรกอล์ฟไทยที่ประสบความสำเร็จตามรอยของโปรโมและโปรเม จนสามารถคว้าแชมป์ LPGA และได้ช่วยสร้างชื่อเสียงให้กับประเทศอย่างต่อเนื่องจำนวน 7 คน (รวมโปรโมและโปรเม) ได้แก่ ปาจรีย์ อนันต์นฤการ (โปรเมียว) อาฒยา ฐิติกุล (โปรจีน) ปภังกร ธวัชธนกิจ (โปรเหมียว) ธิฎาภา สุวัณณะปุระ (โปรจัสมิน) และชเนตตี วรรณแสน (โปรพราว)
เรื่องราวชีวิตของพี่น้องจุฑานุกาลได้รับความสนใจถ่ายทอดเป็นภาพยนตร์ “โปรเม อัจฉริยะต้องสร้าง”ออกฉายในหลายประเทศ เพื่อเป็นแรงบันดาลใจให้ผู้คนเชื่อมั่น มุ่งมั่น ตั้งใจในสิ่งที่รัก และพยายามสู่ความสําเร็จ ซึ่งเครือข่ายบันเทิงยักษ์ใหญ่อย่าง Netflix ก็ได้บรรจุภาพยนตร์เรื่องนี้ไว้สร้างแรงบันดาลใจให้ผู้ชมจากทั่วโลกด้วย
สำหรับรางวัลที่จะมอบให้แก่ โมรียา และเอรียา จุฑานุกาล นั้น จะประกอบด้วย การสลักชื่อลงบนถ้วยรางวัล (Trophy) ซี่งจะมีชื่อผู้ได้รับรางวัลที่ผ่านมาและในอนาคตและตั้งแสดงไว้ที่กระทรวงการต่างประเทศ โดยจะมอบถ้วยรางวัล (Trophy) จำลองให้แก่ผู้ได้รับรางวัล พร้อมทั้งจะสลักชื่อผู้ได้รับรางวัลบนผนังเกียรติยศที่กระทรวงการต่างประเทศด้วย นอกจากนั้น ผู้ได้รับรางวัลจะได้เงินจำนวน ๓๐๐,๐๐๐ บาท และโล่ประกาศ เกียรติคุณด้วย
อนึ่ง ในปี ๒๕๖๕ นายแพทย์ สุนทร อันตรเสน เป็นผู้ได้รับรางวัลการทูตสาธารณะเป็นคนแรก
ทั้งนี้ มูลนิธิไทยจะประกาศเวลาและรายละเอียดของพิธีมอบรางวัลการทูตสาธารณะต่อไป
